King Solomon – Venice Beach Snake Man

These are miracle snakes!

Street performer dangles snakes on Venice BeachIn 1989–the Year of the Snake–the cobra came to King Solomon.  As he was walking along the ocean, playing his flute, the Chinese animal washed ashore just as he was passing.  A coincidence?  And the other snakes?

Come on down to the beach and see why it’s good to be the king!

Vinny V – 3-D Artist

Stand right there!  You’re in 3-D!

3-D Artist on Venice Beach

I walked into Vinny V one sunny day holding out 3-D glasses to me.  I put the ‘50s-style paper spectacles on and stepped into his “paint-by-numbers-on-acid” world.  Beneath me,  a rectangle of red, green, blue and yellow paint spread out as if a carpet.  Through the glasses, it looked like I would fall into it if I stepped forward.

With a little coaxing from Vinny, I denied my instinct to “not step off a ledge” and BAM–I stepped forward–hovering above Venice Beach for a moment.

In these photos, the artist floats in 3-D above his work.  Go get your glasses!
